The Saturn Moon Simulator Program uses the low precision routines published from the Astronomical Almanac. The results are not perfect but they agree reasonably well with my images. So they should be accurate enough to be of help in identifying which oons you have observed. The progrm shows the correct orientation of the ring plane and Saturn's orientation in space.

The program does not require an installation. Just extract the entire contents of the zipped file into the same folder and then double click on the file SATMOON.EXE.

If the program does not run, make certain that all of the files are in the same folder. You will need these three files in the same folder:

SATMOON.EXE
EYEPIECE.TXT
OBJFL.TXT

You can also put the file SATMOON.ICO in the folder if you want an icon for the program. If you use a shortcut to the program, you will probably need to set the working directory to match where you placed the files. You do this by right clicking on the shortcut, then choose properties and the choose the program tab. Type in the complete pathname in the working directory. For Example: D:\ASTRO\PGMS\VIEWING\SATURN

You can edit the text files to replace the default paramaters with your own. If you do make sure that you place the data in the file the same way it appears. It's best to just type over the existing data rather than start from srcratch.

The program defaults are for a common eyepiece list and a 80 inch focal length objective.
